Halloween and Cozy Fall Mugs Coming Soon!

For the past few years, I’ve wanted to kick off October with a shop update, and this year it’s finally happening! I’ve been putting in extra hours in the studio this past month, making lots of new pieces, and they’re just about ready for the kiln. Please mark your calendars for October 1 at 8 pm EST!
Even though I always tell myself that next time will be different, I’ve found myself once again working right up until the last possible moment. I would love to have it all done weeks in advance so I can take my time and share more of the process, but the reality is, when the work is ready, so are the bills. And so the dance continues.
That said, I’m genuinely excited about this update. On my glaze table right now are pieces I can’t wait to share, each one waiting for a final pass where I clean them up with a needle tool and touch up any glaze before firing. If all goes well and I don’t have any glaze issues, I’ll have:
7 haunted house mugs
A few pieces inspired by vintage Halloween décor
Cat mugs in cozy fall scenes
Rainbow ghosties
Birds with colorful fall trees
2 Mouse witches
Crows with pumpkins
Jack-O-Lanterns and more!
If you’d like to follow along behind the scenes, I have shared reels of some of the pieces I have finished over on Instagram and Facebook. Below are a few pieces I’m just about to pop into the kiln for their final firing.
Gallery News: Halloween Collection
I was so excited to be invited to participate in the Halloween Delights IV show at the Charlie Cummings Gallery this year. For those who aren’t familiar, the gallery is a well-respected ceramics space in Gainesville, Florida, known for showcasing incredible contemporary work from clay artists all over the country. It was truly an honor to be included alongside so many talented makers. I submitted four Halloween-themed pieces for the show, and I’m happy to share that three of them have already sold. I still have one piece available, a fun vase decorated with jack-o’-lanterns and friendly little ghosts. You can check it out over on the Charlie Cummings Gallery website if you’d like to take a look.
Lately at Home
There’s something about fall and its reflective, cozy energy that feels like just what I need. This collection of work has been healing to create, and I hope that comes through when you see it.
In the garden, we’ve slowed down a bit these past few weeks, though it's still producing. I’ll admit I’m ready to be done with canning and processing until next year. On the brighter side, the flowers have been incredible. This was my first year growing rows of cosmos, and I can’t believe how tall they are. I’d need a ladder just to reach the top blooms.
I’m also growing some stunning marigolds from seeds I picked up at the Ohio County Fair last year. They’re this brilliant shade of orange that almost glows, like tiny stars or fairies scattered through the garden. I catch myself standing at the kitchen door just staring at them.
Our chickens, and our one lady duck Matilda, have started laying eggs, which has been fun to witness. We ended up with two roosters, and while they drive me a little crazy with all their noise, they are quite beautiful.
Thank You for Supporting Handmade
Thank you, as always, for supporting handmade. I hope you’ll find a mug you love when the shop update goes live on October 1st at 8 PM EST.
Every piece I create is shaped by hand and inspired by the beauty of the seasons. When you choose to shop small, you’re not just buying pottery. You’re supporting an artist, a family, and a creative life connected to nature.
I’m grateful for every order, every kind message, and every person who brings a piece of my work into their home. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
Warmly,
Carrie
